Dermatology and Obesity

Obesity is related to a number of dermatoses. It affects touch sensation, temperature regulation, foot shape, and vasculature. Obesity increases the incidence of body covering infections that include: fungal infection, intertigo, fungus inflammation, skin disease, erythtasma, eczema marginatum and folliculitits. Skin tags are more commonly associated with diabetes than with obesity. Skin disease is the most common dermatological manifestation of obesity.
